Depths.so - user page
Fostering connected learning with public profiles.
From personal to collaborative learning
Since the launch of the alpha version, we have established the main building blocks of the product. Now, we are taking it further. User interviews and feedbacks suggest that learning together collaboratively is crucial as well.
What is the goal of user page?
01
To allow a user to overview all their own Depths and subscribed Depths like a directory, therefore replacing the current side bar's role as a directory
02
To allow a user to see other user's profile, to know what other Depths had this user curated or what Depths have this users subscribed to
Why do we need this new feature?
01
The sidebar cannot perfectly function as a directory, so we need a better solution
02
To emphasize on the network usage of Depths as we position as somewhat 'a network for learners to curate and explore resources, engagement between users to a certain extent is required
Ideation & Iteration💡
Trying things out…
Initial research combined with insights from PMS brief assured us to the next phase: brainstorms and redesigning in iterations.
Public user page
What experience do we want to achieve through a user page?
01
If I click into a user page, I'll learn more about this particular user both as a curator (what this user has curated/subscribed) and as a person (what is this person's background and what is he up to)
note: although we want to let them know each other as person, we don't want to emphasise too much on social network usage (because we want them focus on learning & plus we don't have too much users in the beginning so typical social network features is not very helpful); as an analogy, the 'know other as a person' experience should be like Product Hunt instead of LinkedIn/Twitter.
02
I'll want my own user page to look good as I might send my user page to my friends; so there should be other features besides a directory that could achieve that (potentially: something to show my curation/learning progress or latest activities etc)
03
I'll want to see how active is this users is using Depths - if he is a frequent user and saves things everyday

Exploring curated resources

Takeaways 🥡
Making learning a team sport
Shifting the product’s vision was a big learning moment for us. We realized that when you make it easy (and fun) for people to share their learning resources, engagement naturally follows. It wasn’t just about organizing content anymore—it was about creating a space where users feel comfortable sharing, collaborating, and giving feedback. Along the way, we learned how crucial it is to have clear sharing controls, intuitive social features, and trust-building mechanisms. In the end, this shift showed us that when people can both manage and contribute to a shared pool of knowledge, learning becomes way more dynamic and rewarding.
